San Pedro del Pinatar, a paradise to enjoy all year round

San Pedro del Pinatar has salt as a unifying element of the Regional Park, the open-air spa of the Lodos del Mar Menor, plus the fish and salted products of its gastronomy.

San Pedro del Pinatar offers the visitor thirteen kilometers of beaches between two seas, the natural beaches of the Mediterranean stand out, framed in the surroundings of the Salinas and Arenales Regional Park of San Pedro del Pinatar, with dunes of fine sand and warm waters, perfect for disconnecting and relaxing next to the sound of the birds that inhabit this unique environment.

To reach them, the visitor will enter a protected wetland of 856 hectares, a refuge for hundreds of migratory birds, and where they will find unique landscapes, such as pink ponds, in which an important population of flamingos, seagulls and other species stand out, white mountains of salt, salt mills, and the green of a peculiar vegetation in which aleppo pine predominates.

San Pedro del Pinatar is committed to ecotourism. For this reason, it offers free guided tours throughout the year in this environment. These routes are developed mainly in the afternoon and at night and allow to know the surroundings of the Regional Park from different perspectives, such as routes under the full moon, routes on kilometers of natural beaches where you can learn about the importance of the 'oceanic posidonia'; routes for photography lovers, to discover unique landscapes and contrasts, and other more specific routes for ornithology lovers.

Ecotourism

This commitment to ecotourism and the conservation of spaces is also observed in initiatives in which the City Council collaborates, such as the European project 'Life Salinas' for the conservation of habitats and aquatic birds in the salt flats and sandy areas of San Pedro; the walks to reconnect with nature in the Protected Natural Areas of the Region of Murcia, which are offered from the Visitor Center or 'Tortuga Territory', which is held on Wednesdays in summer, on the beaches of La Llana, for sightings of footprints and traces of sea turtle breeding attempts, collaborating in the volunteer work of the Protected Natural Areas of the Region of Murcia with Menor Plastic.

In addition, San Pedro del Pinatar has the most important outdoor lodotherapy area in Europe, the traditional mud baths in the area of the ponds, which have been the germ of an important health and wellness tourism with thermal establishments and spa centers. Specialized thalassotherapy offering multiple health and beauty treatments and services, with water and mud as the main elements.

An environmental offer that has managed to permanently attract tourists from all over Europe, breaking seasonality and becoming a model of hospitality excellence.

It is a tourist offer that is complemented by other quality services, a wide range of hotels, and high-level sports facilities and a rich gastronomy marked by the taste of the sea, in dishes such as fish and seafood, cauldron or salting. Flavors that reputed gastronomic establishments portray daily in their menus. It is a tourist fabric that has adapted to the new health situation, making San Pedro del Pinatar a safe destination, since the sector has opted to adopt the health and safety protocols recommended by the different health authorities.

Beaches, sea ports, hotels, bars and restaurants, specialized companies, means of transport, etc., have adapted to the protocols and security measures established to guarantee the visitor a unique and safe experience.
